I have watched and listened to someone in the business laming a point about a game. When they were through, I didn’t know what the explanation was all about. also have glanced through a couple of books by some ed authorities on casino gambling also some articles in actions. I wonder where and how some of these authors the nerve to write about something they know nothing They will go out, ask a few questions, do a little ,hand then write an article or book on the subject weeks later and don’t even know what they wrote Not only that, but tell the player about certain rules .
Standard Rules
Vegas or Nevada that are supposed to be standard rules, i not so. All rules are not the same in Vegas or one author in an article on roulette tells you that split you get 34 to 1. This is not true. You receive 1. Another author tells you that every club in Las the “21” honest dealer must hit 16 and stop on 17. This is most of the clubs on the strip, the dealers hit 16 stop on any 17. Downtown all clubs hit 16 and also a soft 17 this is more percentage for the club.
Other author tells the player to get to the limit as fast can. Now does that make sense to a player who is g $2, $5 or $10? Some clubs have a $500 limit on games. How can anybody expect a small player to let one ride until he reaches the $500 limit? Impossible? A fine way to tell people how to gamble. You not only have ye plenty of money td play this way; you also have to plenty of guts.
Authors Views
Another author tells the player he can ask for a cut in “21” any time he wants to not so! Once the dealer deals the cards, nobody can ask for a cut. This incident happened at a club recently. A player at a “21” free casino game betting $20 and $30 a hand asked the dealer for a cut. The dealer called over the floor man and told him what the player said. The floor man said to the player, “You can’t ask for a cut once the cards are dealt.” The player said, “I’ll bet you $500 I can ask for a cut.” The floor man said “You have a bet.” He called one of the bosses over and explained the situation to the boss. The player spoke up and said, “You have explained the situation perfectly, but I can ask for a cut that doesn’t mean you have to give it to me.” The player won the bet.
Another author tells you that you only receive one card on each if you split aces. This is not so. In some clubs downtown, if you split aces and receive another ace or two you can also split them. One card on each. A few authors tell you that the limits are the same in all clubs in Vegas and Nevada. That also is not true. Every club has its own rules and limits on their games. The limit of a game is determined by the owners of a club also by the size of the club. Some clubs have $100 limit, some $200 limit, some $500, and some even have $50 limit.
Some clubs deal to the faces. By that I mean if the club’s limit is $200 that is to the public, but if a high bettor comes in that the club knows they can win a lot of money from, they will raise the limit for him, as they have a chance to win something. Also they don’t want to lose him to some other club where the limit is higher.
